The big count and the racing car

The count Alexander Kolowrat-Krakowsky, Sascha for his friends, has always been a very busy character. Cinematography was but one amongst his many hobbies. So why not make a profession from it? In 1910 he founded the „Sascha-Filmfabrik“ a movie production company, in Brigittenau in Vienna. During his work he discovered stars like Marlene Dietrich and produced propaganda movies during the First World War. But in 1920 he returned to his big love – the racecar. And during this time he of course met, Ferdinand Porsche who was currently working for Austro-Daimler. On the count’s wish Porsche constructed a budget racecar, that he called „Sascha“. The count drove many a race with his little speedster and his – due to his own impressive posture – always small and thin co driver. On the picture we see the car loving count in his „Sascha“ at the Semmering Bergrennen 1922.
